The Moscow Metro

As I said in my previous post, the Metro in Moscow is amazing. More than 7.1 million passengers travel on the Metro each day, but, the stations are spotless, with no graffiti or stupid advertising posters in sight. The trains come at least every 4 minutes, but the average wait is 2 minutes between trains, and each platform has a giant digital clock so you can keep tabs on when the next train will arrive.

A one-way ride is 14 rubles (or about 62 cents Cdn), which puts the TTC to shame.

Here are some pictures of some of the Metro stations:
Chandeliers, stained glass, and marble walls
The train arriving, right on time!
Hanging' with Lenin (on the wall of one of the Metro stations)
Mosaic ceilings, elaborate chandeliers, and gold leaf
Even the ventilation grates are fancy, circa the ole' Communist days
