Having a ball in Portugal

We had a great weekend in Portugal. We flew to Lisbon on Friday afternoon and rented a car and drove about a half hour north, to a town called Sintra. It's high up in the hills close to the Atlantic coast, and it was beautiful. It was like a fairytale land - deep dark forests, crazy castles, and brightly coloured buildings.

The only drawback to Portugal was lack of vegetarian food! Everything had great lashings of ham or squid - not ideal, really. I ate a lot of bread and cheese. (And ice-cream.... had to keep my strength up somehow...!)

Even though we were only there for the weekend, we managed to see a bunch of castles and old monasteries, plus we had an afternoon at the beach, and did lots of walking around too. It was a lovely weekend - and one of the last weekend trips that we're doing! Booo hooo!

44 days until I fly home! Soooo crazy!
