The first year was a busy one. We arrived in St Albans on January 8th, 2005 and that's when I saw our little house on Sopwell Lane for the first time.
We live on a little narrow street with three pubs along it. Some of the buildings are from the 1600's, but our little house is a measley 200 years old.
We spent most of the first month getting settled, and travelling around South East England. I also spent a lot of time looking for a job.
The first month was quiet, but that was the end of it!! After that, we the adventure really begun.
In the first six months, we went to:
York, Whitby & Scarborough, England
Esjberg, Denmark
Brussels & Bruges, Belgium
Northern Ireland (That lovely picture is me counting sheep on the Antrim Coast)
Newcastle, England
The South of France - 10-day trip (Uzes, Nimes, Nice, Cannes, Monte Carlo)
The New Forest, UK
Prague (for Rojo's 30th)
Edinburgh & St Andrews
The Cotswolds, UK
Scotland & The Orkney Islands
Canada (for Labour Day, of course!)
Cardiff & South Wales
France (Bayeux & Dinard)
Egypt (Cairo, Luxor, Alexandria - what a week!)
Barcelona (for my 30th!)
Vienna (with Emer and Brad)
Yorkshire (well, Rob stayed home 'cause this was a girly weekend)
Budapest
Then back to Canada for Christmas!
What a year. I get exhausted just thinking about it. The statistics are:
28 flights
51 nights in a hotel
100 hours in the air
12 countries
10 train trips
and one wild and crazy ferry ride!
