Fun in Yorkshire

We just got back from a lovely overnight trip to Yorkshire. We've been up in that area before, but this time stopped off in Nottingham at an Architectural Salvage yard and of course bought some windows.

We then kept going north and went to Harrogate and stopped at Bolsover Castle.

We stayed at the best wee bed and breakfast in a 300 year old farmhouse and the old sweet couple who owned the place were called Mr and Mrs Crabtree. They had chickens, ducks, geese, two dogs, and eight cows. They were so lovely and so good to us - we had scrambled eggs this morning from their own free range hens.

Rob took advantage of our cozy room to have some complimentary hot chocolate. It was so windy and rainy last night, we slept really well in our cozy farmhouse room.

Today we drove for miles and stopped at lots of fun places, like Bolton Abbey and Fountains Abbey and Thirsk.

The weather has been really chilly (I had four layers on today!) and we're worried that summer is over, but Yorkshire is beautiful even in the rain.

We've recovered from the drama of Friday night - nothing like a bit o' fresh country air and chatting to cows to put things in perspective.
