We had a nice time this past weekend, and just stayed close to home. Saturday we walked up to the market and then had a quiet night wrapping some xmas presents and putting up our christmas lights. It was a perfect sunny day, and there was a bit of frost overnight - probably our first frost this fall. I made a wreath for outside, and finally mailed all of our Christmas cards.
Sunday we drove to Northamptonshire (about 1 hr north) and visited with our friends Ian and Caroline and their three very rambunctious kiddies.

It was good fun, though we were both exhausted after six hours of non-stop entertainment by the kids. We made a manger scene with them using these crazy foam beads and the kiddies had to be physically restrained from picking off baby jesus' eyes and using them on a christmas monster they created. It was seriously funny, and I don't hold out great hopes for his odds of survival... how can he compete with a christmas monster?

Here is my doggy light (which was my birthday present from the work chums), looking suitably festive with our xmas lights.
