Part 2 - Crete

On Saturday, we flew from Athens to Crete, which is the largest and southermost of the Greek Islands. It's also very green and fertile, compared to the other islands, though it did seem a bit scrubby in spots.

There was a crazy wind when we were there - the locals were all complaining about it. It didn't stop us from having a jolly time and making the most of some pretty fantastic beaches.

On our first night in Crete, we stayed on the south coast of the island in a funny wee cave house. It was pretty cute, and nice and cool inside. We snuggled up in our bed and listened to the wind howl all night.

The beach we stopped at along the south coast was actually green! Most of the pebbles were green marble - it was crazy! I had never been on a green beach before! The water was pretty chilly there, so we didn't swim at that one, but there were other amazing sand beaches were we bobbed in the sea.

Our second night in Crete we stayed on the North Coast, close to the ferry port, as we had to catch an early ferry the next morning. Unfortunately, we were eaten alive by nasty greek mosquitos that night, so we were in very bad humour as we set off.
