Mykonos was our final Island destination. We arrived there on Friday morning and found a great wee place to stay, in the main town, Hora. It was just behind the main square, but was on a quiet little path. We had our own wee staircase and balcony, and the all-important air conditioning!
Mykonos was the biggest party destination of all the islands - pretty rowdy and quite the gay hotspot, so some parts of the beaches were designated gay areas - Rob wanted to go and check them out for some reason.
It was just as beautiful as the other islands, but dripping with lots more money (as witnessed by the yachts - especially the one with the helicopter on top!) and the pricey hotels, shops, and restaurants (though not all had fun pelican guests like the one below!)
Keeping with our carbon-footprint-maxing, we decided to use yet another mode of transport and rented a scooter to drive around Mykonos.
Friday we explored the main town, and drove to some of the beaches along both sides of the coast. Saturday we took a boat trip to the historical island of Delos, about half an hour off shore. I'll do a seperate post about Delos, 'cause it was pretty special.
Saturday afternoon we hung out at some of the crazy busy beaches, complete with lots of topless nudies, raver music, and rowdy sunbathers.
Driving on the scooter was good fun, as Rob was driving this time. No torn ligaments or crashing this time!
I'd go back to Mykonos anytime, but would need to prepare myself for the crowds and craziness!
